The Global Health Promotion Consortium is a group at the University of Toronto in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Faculty of Nursing who are focused on education, community service and research in health promotion at a global level.  It has evolved from the Centre for Health Promotion and carries forward the designation as the WHO Collaborating Centre in Health Promotion at the University of Toronto.  The Centre for Health Promotion was established in 1989 as a community-academic partnership.  After 20 years, in July 2009, its activities were folded into the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.  This website provides current information about the activities of the Global Health Consortium and the WHO Collaborating Centre with active links. All previous links and resources connected to the former Centre for Health Promotion have been preserved and are now located in the Archives.

The goals of the Global Health Promotion Consortium are

  1. Education - To strengthen capacity for the effective delivery of health promotion and health education at global, regional and country levels for health professionals and policy makers
  2. Evaluation - To stimulate and support theory and practice of evaluation in health promotion in global settings
  3. Research and Knowledge Exchange - To conduct research and disseminate scientific and technical information in health promotion and global development

The key partners of the Global Health Promotion Consortium are the Faculty of Nursing and the Global Health Division at the University of Toronto.

We welcome you to the Global Health Promotion Consortium and invite you to explore this site and learn more about the Consortium and about health promotion in general.  For more information, you can email suzanne.jackson@utoronto.ca  or call (416) 978-1100
